In 2023, the BIRD marked a leap in its unwavering commitment to crafting a working environment where everyone gets a genuine sense of stimulation and belonging. As we bid farewell to an exciting year, it's time to look back at some of its highlights.
Amid the eclectic array of milestones that peppered the year, the PLAYGROUND Inauguration in June stands out as particularly gratifying.
Our one-of-a-kind venue is enveloped in contemporary design and adorned with lively, radiant furniture. Crafted by YKRA, a visionary architectural design studio, this distinctive place transcends the traditional meeting room, embodying a dynamic hub for sharing knowledge and networking.
Its inauguration marked a pinnacle moment for the BIRD, as it invited residents and partners to revel in discovering this one-of-a-kind space together, during a delightful Afterwork.
Since June 2023, our Breakfasts have served as moments for Residents to kickstart their day in a relaxed yet stimulating setting. Elsa Berthault spoke about building successful teams, David Cunado shared dynamic insights on boosting self-confidence at work, and Ines and Marina from Fit & Go, shared insights on eating well to work better, ensuring a power-packed morning for attendees.
In addition, our Learn & share workshops delved deep into growing soft skills. Last September, we spotlighted upcycling and slow fashion with Jeanne von Segesser, a key figure in Fashion Revolution Switzerland. She enlightened participants on the adverse impact of fast fashion but also provided viable alternatives to clothing waste. The event culminated with a compelling demonstration of creating a collective project through upcycling old jeans.
2023 also marks the year our resident bees celebrated their inaugural honey harvest! The BIRD has happily accommodated over 120,000 busy bees since last April, and despite last summer's heat peaks, they have been thriving, thanks to the care of Apidae beekeepers. A salute to the BIRD's hives, which yielded over 40kg of honey in just a few months!
At the BIRD, unwinding is also part of our philosophy.
As such, our quarterly Afterworks continued to be graced with good people, slick music, various delicious tastings, and fun workshops, such as a mixology class at the Coffee Corner.
In the same spirit, during a fabulous November night, the BIRD partnered with the high-praised Antigel festival for an memorable immersive event.l. The evening showcased a world of artistry and dreams, featuring fakir artists, mesmerizing dance duos, and a slick DJ set.
This unprecedented success paved the way to a longer partnership with Antigel, predicting good moments to come!
To round off the year, at our X-Mas market, we embraced a golden opportunity to elevate the festive season by showcasing the exceptional quality of local and ethical products crafted by skilled artisans and designers. Our residents and visitors were able to tick off their list the Christmas shopping while sipping a drink and chit-chatting with colleagues and friends.
Thanks to our residents, a dedicated team, and numerous partners and friends, the BIRD succeeded in reigniting the power of change, morphing into a dynamic, contemporary, and inclusive hub.
As we experience the dawn of a new year, we remain committed to continuing this transformative journey, offering spaces and creating moments where our community can thrive and redefine the essence of collaboration and shared experience.
